Healthcare Preparedness Program Conference Offerings!

HPP is proud to help provide a specific set of educational offerings focused on healthcare preparedness at the 2023 NC EMS Expo in Greensboro, May 1 – May 3, 2023. 

Introduction to the Healthcare Preparedness Program
This course will introduce the mission, goals, and objectives of the Healthcare Preparedness Program inclusive of the emergency response components for the State Medical Response System. The attendees will get a better understanding of how the program operates and how they can be part of the SMRS. This will include a review of recent responses in North Carolina.
State Medical Support Shelter Responses
Learn about what a State Medical Support Shelter is, how patients can access these shelters and what role EMS plays in transportation during a statewide disaster. This presentation will cover the criteria for patients in a State Medical Support Shelter along with hearing real-life experiences from staff that worked during recent disasters.
Healthcare Coalition Response Panel
This session is a panel discussion with coordinators from several Healthcare Coalitions across North Carolina and how they can support EMS, EM, Hospital, Long-term Care Facilities, and Public Health agencies. This spotlight will include case reviews of specific disaster incidents that Healthcare Coalitions have responded to in North Carolina and how they work to mitigate and prepare for future disasters.
Chempack Utilization for EMS
Overview of the North Carolina State Chempack plan that covers EMS response to WMD - Nerve Agent Protocol. This will include information on the procedures for getting access to the Chempack, clinical decisions support for when to use the Chempack and EMS response details.
Implementing Infectious Disease Protection Training Programs
Proper PPE utilization is critical to keeping staff and patients safe during an incident. This session will discuss the importance of implementing a thorough and robust infectious disease training program within your organization. Hear how the experts at UNC ensure their staff are properly trained for these difficult situations.
State Medical Response System Meeting
Join us for a small gathering of the State Medical Assistance Teams (II / III) and the Ambulance Strike Teams (AST). Enjoy a chance to meet other teams, discuss best practices, and plans for the future.
